The Teaching Church
2009-2010
Building a community associated with the idea that a cord of three strands is not easily broken. Ecclesiastes 4:12
The Teaching Church is held at Harrisonburg First Church of the Nazarene from 9am to noon and is provided to you at no charge through a partenership of the harrisonburg First church of the Nazarene and the Virginia District Church of the Nazarene.
September 17, 2009 - Tim Fox (Varina) will share on "Villages: One Right Answer for Discipleship." Kerry Willis (Harrisonburg) will host a Q&A session on stewardship, a Lordship Brainstorming Session aimed at giving us fresh ideas in raising faith in the specific areas of generous giving.
October 15, 2009 - The morning will be divided into three segments:
Jerome Hancock will be leading us in a session connected to pastoral leadership.
Phil Fuller will be reviewing important upcoming changes to the Missional Funding partnership (also known as Budgets) that will be implemented at the 2010 District Assembly. He will also update you on a number of key district functions/events/ministries.
The morning will conclude with a round table conversation on the preaching and teaching of holiness, and a closer look at the newly revised Article of Faith X. Entire Sanctification, as adopted by the General Assembly and in the process of being ratified by the various districts.
Come for instruction and mentoring, but come mostly for the opportunity to be with and learn from and to encourage your peers in ministry. We really do need each other.
For those who may have interest in a golf outing after the Teaching Church please contact the District Resource Center at 804.739.4884 or info@vanaz.org.
December 10, 2009 Tim & Kathy Taylor will be teaching on “Managing Conflict in the Church.” Tim and Kathy speak from real personal experience about the challenges of conflict in the local church and have assembled and developed tools that can help. Your church doesn’t have to be in conflict to get the most out of this seminar.
Many of the insights shared will help pastors and church leaders deal with conflict in its earliest stages before the problems get out of hand. If you have experienced church conflict, or are in the throes of it right now, this season of learning and prayer may likely be the most opportune gathering for you.
