Prayer Initiative

Prayer is never simply a matter of talking to God.
It is trusting Him with our concerns.
Dietrich Bonhoeffer

Oswald Chambers said,

Prayer is not preparation for the work of ministry,
prayer is the work of ministry.

The Church is at its best when it is on its knees.

The Lord has filled my heart with a vision to increase our effectiveness for Christ.  The passion he is fashioning in me is a passion for prayer.  He has confirmed this passion and clarified the call to measurable objectives.

  • A Virginia District Prayer Team composed of 1000 pray-ers united to pray for the needs of the spiritual harvest in Virginia and beyond.

  • A monthly email prayer calendar with daily guide for prayer.

  • A 24-hour prayer retreat once a year.

  • An increased focus on prayer district assembly and conventions.

  • A Hope Summit event each year (simultaneous missional prayer gatherings across the district).

  • Planned efforts for district wide prayer and fasting dates.

I am convinced that the team that prays together will have opportunity to celebrate together the most awe-inspiring, God-given victories our district has ever experienced.

Already more than 626 people have committed to praying more than 5,860 minutes daily for the ministries of the Virginia District.

Lord! Teach me to pray.
