Featured Speaker: Leonard Sweet
TEAM Day is designed to provide a day of inspiration, equipping and the opportunity to network with other pastors, staff, and laity on the Virginia District.
TEAM Day will feature nationally known speakers, as well as workshop leaders from the Virginia District. This event is for pastors, staff and adult lay leaders across the District.
We hope you are planning to join us for this year’s TEAM Day. We listened to the feedback you provided after the first TEAM Day and have made some adjustments to our schedule. It will be less hectic! The slower pace will allow you time to network with others in ministry and fellowship with friends. There will be a lunch break long enough for you to go to a local restaurant. But the day will still be filled with lots of opportunity for you to listen and learn!
General Information... *Registration - registration must be made by October 15 with payment to receive the Early Bird discount of $20. *You may register at the door for the regular fee of $30.
However, workshops and networking sessions that require pre-registration may be full. *Doors will open at 8:00 a.m. with Registration Tables manned at 8:30 a.m. *Coffee and donuts will be available upon your arrival.
Our Keynote Speaker will be Dr. Leonard Sweet. Dr. Leonard Sweet is a historian of American culture; a futurist/semiotician who “sees things the rest of us do not see, and dreams possibilities that are beyond most of our imagining;” and a preacher and writer who communicates the gospel powerfully to a postmodern age by bridging the worlds of academe and popular culture. Dr. Sweet is a leading thinker and respected voice in the church. He currently serves as an E. Stanley Jones Professor of Evangelism at Drew University in Madison, New Jersey and a Visiting Distinguished Professor at George Fox University in Newberg, Oregon. Dr. Sweet has served on the council of the American Society of Church History and is a member of numerous professional groups. His books include Soul Tsunami, Postmodern Pilgrims, The Gospel According to Starbucks, the forthcoming 11 Indispensible Relationships You Gotta Have, as well as many other writings.
Also joining us will be an Eastern Nazarene Ministry Team. Freshmen through seniors, with a variety of backgrounds and majors, are chosen to work and travel together through a highly competitive audition and interview process. While the personality of each team is different, all have diligently prepared to spread a unified message, drawing on their distinct perspectives and backgrounds as well as their cohesion as a team to encourage, instruct, and increase the faith of those to whom they minister. (Group shown is not necessarily the group that will be with us.)
