At nine years old, I became the church pianist. Our church was a new start with a handful of dedicated people and a lot of enthusiasm, but no one could play the piano. Every Sunday morning, the song leader would ask what I had practiced that week, and I would tell him. We sang what I practiced, which means that we all knew “Sitting at the Feet of Jesus” by heart. May God bless those wonderful people who sang and chose to worship.
Since then, I have served in area churches as Director of Music for lots of years, providing music for District and local retreats, area events, revivals, concerts and more. I have directed choirs, ensembles, teams, instrumental groups, soloists, worship bands, and more. I have sung professionally and slept in bunks on Silver Eagle buses. I remember Dallas Holm, Keith Green and Pat Terry, too!
Today, it is my privilege to serve on the staff of Hope Community, serving Jesus and my church family through music. “Sing unto Him a new song; play skillfully with a loud noise” (KJV). This is my heart’s song.
